At home with Ciara Kenaston

Ciara enjoys mixing old with new in her interiors. She tells us what she loves most about sourcing antiques and how she uses them in her home.

How would you describe your interiors style?

I am drawn to old homes with English charm and with hints of traditional elements and modern touches. I definitely like to mix cottagecore and organic elements in my home. I would say it's collected transitional English cottage style.

How do you use antiques in your home?

I love anything with a chunky knob or bobbin leg and the pieces I choose are definitely for everyday use. My dining table, cane chairs, end tables and cabinet are in constant use and the quality really shows when something over 100 years old can still be used as it was made to be.

What do you love most about buying antiques?

The thrill of the hunt is definitely a huge factor in my purchase. Having antique pieces throughout my home adds so much character and having worn pieces adds an organic element that something new cannot replicate. I never want to swap them out because of trends or lack of quality. Antiques are here to stay.

What does home mean to you?

Creating a home is very intentional for me. I want to create experiences and memories in our home and I want the flow of our home to be comfortable and to have purpose. There is beauty in purpose and finding a way to make something beautiful is what I long for. Home is where we live and where we feel the most love.
